What Our Clients Say

We work with musicians, podcasters, and content creators across London and beyond. Here's what they experienced working with our recording studio.

"
Recorded my first EP here last month. The engineer knew exactly how to capture the sound I had in my head. We spent about 12 hours over three sessions, and the final mix exceeded what I hoped for. The space itself has great acoustics, and the equipment selection made a real difference. I've already booked another session for next quarter.

"
Good experience overall. The booking process was straightforward, and the studio delivered what was promised. We recorded a 6-episode podcast series, and the audio quality met our requirements. One session ran 30 minutes over schedule, but they accommodated us without additional charges. Would use again for future projects.

"
Decent setup and fair pricing. The room worked well for our needs, though I expected slightly more equipment options based on the website description. Communication was professional, and they responded to emails within 24 hours. The final product was acceptable, though we did need one revision on the mastering. Solid choice if you're on a budget.

"
Booked them for voiceover work for our company's training videos. The turnaround was quick - we received edited files within 48 hours as agreed. The sound engineer offered helpful suggestions about mic placement that improved the clarity. Pricing was competitive compared to three other studios we contacted. Minor note: would appreciate more flexible evening time slots, but that's a small thing.

Acoustic Treatment: What Actually Matters in Your Recording Space

Many artists invest in expensive microphones but overlook room acoustics. Our studio uses bass traps at corners and absorption panels at first reflection points. We tested various materials over 8 years and found that placement matters more than thickness. This approach reduced room resonance by 40% in our live room, allowing clearer vocal recordings without excessive post-processing.

How to Prepare for Studio Time Without Wasting Budget

Studio time costs between £30-80 per hour in London. Artists who rehearse thoroughly beforehand complete projects 30% faster in our experience. We recommend recording scratch demos at home, finalizing arrangements before arrival, and bringing spare strings or drumsticks. One band saved 4 hours of studio time simply by pre-selecting their guitar tones. This guide covers what to bring, how to structure your session, and which decisions to make beforehand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our recording services, equipment, and booking process. We're here to help you understand what to expect when working with us.

Our facility features a Neve 8424 console, Neumann U87 and AKG C414 microphones, and Universal Audio preamps. We monitor through Genelec 8351B speakers in an acoustically treated control room measuring 25 square metres. The live room spans 40 square metres with variable acoustics.

Digital recording runs through Pro Tools HDX with Apogee Symphony converters at 24-bit/96kHz. We maintain analogue outboard gear including Empirical Labs Distressor compressors and Pultec EQs. All equipment receives regular calibration and maintenance to ensure consistent results.

Our standard rate is £60 per hour for the studio with an engineer. This includes use of all microphones, instruments, and monitoring equipment. We require a minimum booking of three hours for recording sessions.

Mixing services start at £250 per track, depending on complexity and track count. Mastering costs £80 per track or £400 for an EP of five tracks. We offer package rates for full album projects - contact us with your specific requirements for a detailed quote. All prices include VAT.

We provide a Yamaha C3 grand piano, Ludwig Classic Maple drum kit with Zildjian cymbals, Fender and Ampeg bass amplifiers, and a selection of guitars including Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul models. These are available at no additional charge during your session.

Most musicians prefer their own instruments for comfort and familiarity. If you're travelling from outside London and need specific gear, let us know in advance. We can arrange rentals from local suppliers or adjust our backline to suit your needs.

We recommend booking at least two weeks ahead for weekday sessions and four weeks for weekend slots. Our calendar fills quickly during autumn and winter months when many artists work on new releases.

For urgent projects, check our availability by phone or email. We sometimes have cancellations or can extend our hours to accommodate tight deadlines. Block bookings for album projects should be arranged at least six weeks in advance to secure consecutive days if needed.

Yes, you're welcome to bring your producer, band members, or guests. Our control room comfortably seats four people, and the live room can accommodate full bands of six to eight musicians depending on setup requirements.

We ask that you inform us of total numbers when booking so we can prepare adequate seating and monitoring. For larger groups or sessions with multiple guests, we may need to adjust the setup time. Everyone present must follow our studio guidelines regarding food, drinks, and equipment handling.

Final mixes are delivered as 24-bit/48kHz WAV files, suitable for all distribution platforms. We also provide 16-bit/44.1kHz versions for CD production and 320kbps MP3 files for online sharing and demos.

If you need stems for remixing or alternative formats like FLAC or AIFF, just ask. We can export in any format your project requires. All files are delivered via WeTransfer or Dropbox within 48 hours of session completion. We keep project backups for six months in case you need revisions or additional exports.

We accept remote mixing projects from artists worldwide. Send us your recorded tracks as individual WAV files at the highest resolution available, along with a rough mix showing your vision for the song. Include notes about specific sounds or references you'd like us to consider.

Our process includes an initial mix, followed by two rounds of revisions based on your feedback. Turnaround time is typically five to seven working days per track. We communicate via email and can schedule video calls to discuss the mix in detail if needed. Payment is required upfront for remote projects.

Street parking is available on Blenheim Gardens and surrounding roads in the SW2 area. Most spaces are free after 18:00 on weekdays and all day Sunday. During restricted hours, pay-and-display bays cost £3 per hour with a maximum stay of four hours.

The nearest car park is at Brixton Recreation Centre, a five-minute walk from our location. For equipment loading, you can temporarily park directly outside our entrance - just inform us when you arrive so we can assist. Brixton Underground station is 12 minutes away on foot if you prefer public transport.

Cancellations made more than seven days before your session receive a full refund minus a £25 administration fee. For cancellations between three and seven days, we retain 50% of the booking fee. Cancellations within 72 hours of the session are non-refundable.

We understand that circumstances change. If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, we'll do our best to find alternative dates within the same month at no extra charge. This flexibility applies to the first rescheduling - subsequent changes may incur fees depending on availability.

While we focus on recording and production, we work with several trusted distribution partners and can introduce you to services that handle Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. We ensure your masters meet technical specifications for digital distribution, including proper loudness levels and metadata.

For physical releases, we can recommend mastering engineers who specialise in vinyl cutting and CD production. We're happy to provide guidance on release strategy and timing based on our experience with other artists, though we don't offer formal marketing or promotion services.

Yes, we record voice-overs for commercials, audiobooks, and corporate projects. Our vocal booth measures 3 by 2.5 metres with professional acoustic treatment. We use Neumann TLM 103 microphones for spoken word, which provide clarity without excessive room sound.

Podcast recording sessions accommodate up to four speakers simultaneously with individual microphones and headphone mixes. We can record, edit, and master your episodes, including intro music and sound effects. Rates for voice work are £50 per hour, with editing charged separately at £35 per hour.

Rehearse your material thoroughly - studio time is expensive, and preparation makes a significant difference to results. Bring spare strings, drumsticks, and any specific cables or pedals you need. If you're recording vocals, avoid dairy products and stay hydrated in the days before your session.

Send us a rough demo or reference tracks at least three days in advance so we can plan microphone placement and signal routing. Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in and discuss your goals for the session. We'll handle the technical setup while you focus on performance. Bring a USB drive or external hard drive if you want to take raw files home after the session.

About Tibequ

A recording studio built on technical precision, acoustic expertise, and commitment to delivering clear, accurate sound for musicians and producers across London.

Tibequ recording studio control room

Our Foundation

Tibequ opened in 2018 when three audio engineers decided to create a space focused on technical accuracy rather than trends. We started with one control room in Brixton, equipped with calibrated monitors and treated acoustics. The goal was straightforward: provide musicians with an environment where they could hear their work clearly and make informed decisions about their recordings.

Over six years, we expanded to three recording rooms and added equipment based on client needs. Our microphone collection grew from 12 to 47 units. We installed analog preamps alongside digital interfaces. Each addition came from requests by artists working here, not from marketing promises. Today, we handle 280 sessions annually, from solo vocalists to full bands, serving musicians who need reliable recording conditions.

What We Do

We record, mix, and master audio across genres. Our engineers have worked in this field for 8 to 15 years, with backgrounds in live sound, post-production, and music production. They understand signal flow, frequency response, and dynamic range. Sessions here involve technical discussions about microphone placement, compression ratios, and EQ curves. We explain our choices and involve clients in the process.

Our rooms are acoustically treated using bass traps, diffusers, and absorbers positioned according to measurements taken with analysis software. We maintain our equipment through regular calibration and servicing. Cables are tested monthly. Converters are checked for accuracy. This maintenance schedule ensures consistent results across sessions. When you record vocals on Monday and return for guitar overdubs on Friday, the sonic character remains the same.

🎚️

Technical Precision

We use calibrated equipment, measured room acoustics, and documented workflows. Every session starts with gain staging and ends with reference checks on multiple monitoring systems.

🎧

Clear Communication

Engineers explain technical concepts in plain language. We discuss options, demonstrate alternatives, and document settings so you understand what happens to your audio at each stage.

⚙️

Equipment Knowledge

Our team knows the specifications, frequency responses, and optimal use cases for each piece of gear. We select tools based on the source material, not brand reputation or vintage appeal.

📊

Consistent Results

Through regular maintenance, documented procedures, and quality control checks, we deliver recordings that meet technical standards for streaming platforms and physical media distribution.
